Bonjour!!

Well I'm done with my 1st week at the MTC. What a crazy week! My companion's  name is Elder Beane.   We could not be any more different! It's been interesting trying but I know that I just need to forget about how I feel and serve him. But on a more positive note I LOVE the MTC!! My district is awesome! We all have different skill levels when it comes to French but we are trying our best to learn. Not gonna lie, learning French is hard work! We are already teaching an investigator in French. After our 1st lesson I was super discouraged with myself because I could not pronounce a single French word. I said everything with a Spanish accent... But one thing my branch president stressed to me was that the MTC is not about learning French at all. It is about learning the language of the Spirit. This really hit home for me. It kind of put things into perspective and helped me realize that its not my language skills that will make people come unto Christ but it is the Holy Ghost bearing wittiness to them that the things I'm teaching are true. Its not my Mission, It is the Lords and I am simply a tool in his hands. Now that I have come to realize these things and have prayed for help, my language skills have grown a lot in the matter of 2 days! I can pray in French and bear part of my testimony!! On Sunday night I had the chance to watch a talk that Elder Bednar gave on Christmas Day in the MTC a couple years ago called the Characteristics of Christ. It was truly an amazing talk. He talked about how the natural man is focused on himself. A true disciple of Christ, one who has been fully converted to him, turns outward to others always instead of inward thinking of only ourselves. It was a powerful and spiritual meeting. I don't think there was anyone who didn't cry at some point during it! The Spirit was so strong!
When it comes to learning the language me Elder UrSua and I are learning about the same pace. He is from Hawaii and plays football and basketball there. He is so awesome and we are becoming really good friends.

I don't have very much time to write today but thank you for the letters! They seriously make my day that much better!!

Love Elder Sughroue
