Week #8 - July 8, 2013

Bonjour famille et amies,

This week has been super awesome to say the least. On P-day we went to the Arc of Triumph! It is so crazy how big it is and how they made it way back in the day. We also went to the Louis Vitton and Hugo Boss store in Paris... it blows my mind that people actually spend that much on stuff.

So this past week we had a zone conference and we were challenged to find and teach families. So Elder Webber and I have been praying to find families to teach. We have already found 2! It's kind of crazy how much the Lord will guide you if you just go to Him for guidance.  Both of the families are African, I swear there are more immigrants in France than French natives! But Africans are the best! They are usually super willing to listen and pray about the gospel.

I also did not realize how good African food is and how much of it I would be eating! Africans know how to cook although the food looks bizarre. Last night we had a manger-vous (dinner appointment) with a recent convert and I don't know what exactly I ate but it was super good!

One of the problems we run into here is getting stuck in "discussions" over Jesus being the Son of God with Muslims. They love to rattle off their speech about it.  It's hard because Muslims are literally everywhere so when they see Jesus Christ on our name badge they sometimes freak out.  Another thing that is hard to get use to is the constant cigarette smoke that fills the air. Literally everyone here smokes and so I'm trying to get use to that!

I love this ward and area so much! The French people are amazing and I know that "many and mighty miracles" will happen if we give everything to the Lord (Alma 26:12).

Love you all,
Elder Sughroue-
