Okay, so this past week has been super cool. We had the Elders from
Troyes come to Auxerre. (In our district we have to do double exchanges because
we are over an hour away from everyone.) I was with Elder Utahia from Tahiti.
Needless to say it was a fun exchange. It was cool to see I could talk about
just normal life stuff with him in French. My French is really starting
to improve and I imagine it will get even better while serving in Auxerre
because I have yet to find anyone who knows how to speak English here.
This weekend we spent Friday and Saturday night in Paris. It was
such a sick weekend. We stayed with Elder Mattson from Murrieta and had a
awesome time. Thursday night we got a text saying we need to be in Paris
Saturday morning for a special conference. President Osguthorpe (Sunday
School General President) and Randall R. Ridd (councilor in the General Young Men's
Presidency) came for a last minute surprise mission conference. President
Osguthrope talked about lessons with investigators and how to better teach by
the Spirit. It was really good and gave me some ideas I could use to better
serve the people here. Brother Ridd talked about "real intent". We
invite all our investigators to read and pray with "real intent" but
he went one to explain how that just doesn't apply knowing the truth of the Book
Of Mormon, but rather it applies to everything we do in life. If we don't have
"real intent" or the "right intent" about keeping the
commandments or going to church or even working out, it's not going to profit
us much. It is when we do the things that we are supposed to do for the
right reasons that we will actually start profiting from our actions. Just like
it says in Moroni 7:9 "And likewise also is it counted evil unto a man, if
he shall pray and not with areal intent of heart; yea, and it profiteth him
nothing, for God receiveth none such." We could all probably do
things we do with a little more intent And I know as we do so, we will be
blessed.
SO yeah hope everyone has a good week.
Love
