Week #65 - August 18, 2014

Hey everyone so 1st off some trasnfer news. I am being move to the eastern part of France in a ville called Belfort.  My new comapnion is Elder Tibbets. I don't know anything about him except that he is has been out for only 3 months. So he will be my 1st companion who is younger than me which is gonna be weird. But should be interesting.

So last week in Caen was pretty cool. I got to say bye to the a lot of the members. On Wednesday we went to the Bishop's for dinner and he bought us calzones.. sooo good; they were huge! and then his wife brought out some ice cream! I ate so much I felt sick but it was totaly worth it! I'm going to miss Bishop. He has been so awesome to me.

Friday we got to go to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery with Alexandre! It was so cool! It made paying attention in history worth it. It was breathtaking to see all the white crosses for everyone who died on D-day saving people physically. But then I thought about Christ and His Atoneing Sacrifice that not only saved us physically  (resurrection) but also died to saved us spiritauly if we would just use his Atonement.  I am so grateful for the Atonement and the fact that we can be changed by it.  I'm glad we had Alexandre take us. We really got to know him a lot better  which will help us teach him to his needs more! That is super key because if you don't take time to really know your investigators or recent converts it's a lot harder to know how to help them with their spiritual progression.

Saturday we did service for the family Bourroux. The husband, Nicolas, kept changing his mind on what to do with his front wall so we went back and forth from Frances version of  the Home Depot all day long and didn't get much done. But we had a BBQ ( which was just a whole bunch of different sausages and meat) which was pretty chill. super fun day.

I read a talk by Elder Bednar the other day he said ,"We should also endeavor to discern when we “withdraw [ourselves] from the Spirit of the Lord, that it may have no place in [us] to guide [us] in wisdom’s paths that [we] may be blessed, prospered, and preserved” (Mosiah 2:36). Precisely because the promised blessing is that we may always have His Spirit to be with us, we should attend to and learn from the choices and influences that separate us from the Holy Spirit."

A lot of time we focus too much on the  things we need to do to have the Spirit with us, but that won't work unless we stop doing the things that cause us to withdraw ourselves from the Spirit.
